Some photos I took of the cats (Simon is the white/orange one and Garfunkel is the black one) in the snow (as you probably already know, the east coast of US was hit with a huge snow storm!)
This is a video I took of a salamander that I found outside (he has since been released back to the wild for anyone concerned about him being in a jar) and our cat Garfunkel. The song is called "Tribalistas" and it's on an album called Tribalistas and it's by a band called Tribalistas.
As you can see in the video, Garfunkel was quite interested in this salamander. At the very end of the video he jumps up on the table to get a better look at him but finds a lit candle instead. Don't worry, he doesn't get burned!

Health Care
To follow up on my post from earlier today: Please do what you can to help get health care reform passed! Go to HealthCareForAmericaNow.org to learn what you can do to get involved. This is a very important issue that will directly effect so many of us.
It's important to realize that health care reform will make it illegal for health insurance companies to not cover people due to pre-existing conditions and it will also make it illegal for them to cut coverage from people when they need it most (which sadly happens all the time now.)
This reform is absolutely essential and anyone who says differently is either lying, ignorant, or they have some other motive other than the best health care for Americans (health insurance companies who want to keep making billions of dollars by screwing over their customers and Republican politicians seeking to win a political victory over the President no matter who the collateral damage is.)
Also you should know that most doctors support health care reform:
Both Simon & Garfunkel are strong supporters of Obama/Biden, mainly because Sarah Palin hates cats but also because even they are concerned about the sorry state of the economy! And even they are smart enough not to vote for another 4 years of the same policies that got us into this mess (McCain has the exact same policies as Bush.)
Those of you who have been reading this blog for awhile know that we got another cat a couple of months ago to go along with our original cat Simon. The new cat was a stray we found a few blocks from our house. At first meeting they did not get along at all and would fight constantly. But now it's been a couple of months and things have changed considerably:
This morning we got some photos of Simon & Garfunkel lying on the bed together. This shows how far their relationship has come since we first got Garfunkel "off the streets" 6 weeks ago.
Our cats Simon & Garfunkel are finally starting to get along. They had been fighting pretty much ever since we found Garfunkel on the street 4 weeks ago.
Just over the last few days they have started to become much more friendly towards each other. This is great as it was very frustrating that they were always fighting with each other. It's also great because now I can finally take pictures of them together! Here's some of the first photos of Simon & Garfunkel being friendly:
(for those of you new to the site, Garfunkel is black and Simon is orange and white.)
Last night I was able to get Simon & Garfunkel in the same picture for the first time. It's not the best quality photo as I had to brighten it a lot to be able to see Garfunkel properly (it was in a dark hallway) but I wanted to include it anyway as I find it to be quite historical! Plus the strange lighting is fitting since it is Halloween:

I still have no pictures videos of Simon & Garfunkel together yet. They're not getting along very well so far. Simon is very aggressive towards Garfunkel. It's tough watching them be so mean to each other when they are so nice to us when they are one on one!
I'm considering buying this comfort zone spray for cats to see if I can calm them down while they are out together. Anyone use this stuff for this purpose (getting two cats to get along and get used to each other) and can let me know how it works?
Garfunkel is starting to feel more at home here, today it's been two weeks since we picked him up. Below is a photo I just took of him laying in one of our chairs:

We took Garfunkel to the vet this morning and we found out that he is FIV and FeLV free. We also got a urinalysis done which we haven't got the results back from yet. "Simonsmom" just gave him a bath too!
We're very happy that Garfunkel appears to be rather healthy for a cat just picked up off the streets. We're happy even though the vet bill was over $250!
We got some new things for the cats from PetCo in Manhattan today. If I get the chance I'll take some photos of the cats trying them out!
We have a new cat and his name is Garfunkel. We found him today on the sidewalk just a few blocks away from our apartment. He was a stray cat who apparently had been outside in front of a church for the past week or so (a kind man told us.) He was very friendly for a stray making us think that he hasn't been a stray for that long.
Physically, he has an issue with one of his eyes but otherwise he seems healthy although somewhat thin. We're taking him to the vet tomorrow to get him checked out and get him all of his shots and everything that he may need.
So far we've been keeping Simon separated from Garfunkel as we are trying to ease them in to meeting each other. Simon has been a solo cat his whole life (he's 2) so he seems a bit agitated at smelling another cat's scent in the house, we're hoping that they get used to each other and become best of friends (and perhaps record a hit album or two.) Garfunkel has been dealing with all kinds of things living on the street so he doesn't seem concerned about Simon's scent being in the house at all.
So here's Garfunkel for the first time. You're seeing him before Simon does! In these photos he's laying in a bed that we bought for Simon but he never uses because he's too big for it. It fits Garfunkel perfectly!
